Common septic questions
How often should I pump my septic tank in Florida?
The Florida Department of Health recommends pumping most residential tanks every 3 to 5 years. Homes with a garbage disposal, heavy water use, or a smaller tank may need it every 2 to 3 years.
How much does septic tank pumping cost in Lake City?
Most residential tanks run $300 to $600 depending on tank size, condition, and how easy the lid is to reach. You get an upfront price before any work begins.
What are the signs my septic tank needs pumping?
Slow drains or gurgling toilets, sewage odors near the tank or drainfield, standing water or bright green soggy grass over the drainfield, a backup in the lowest drain, or simply more than 3 to 5 years since the last pumping.
Can you find my tank if I do not know where it is?
Yes. Locating and uncovering the tank and access lid is part of the visit. Many Columbia County homes have lids buried under years of grass, and finding them is routine for us.
How do I know if I need a repair instead of just a pumping?
If problems come back soon after a pumping, the cause is usually a broken part such as a baffle, lid, filter, or pump. We diagnose the actual cause and show you the part and price before any work begins.
What causes a drainfield to fail?
The two big causes here are years of skipped pumping pushing solids into the field, and the county sandy soil and seasonal high water table leaving less room to drain. Heavy water use and age add to it.
Can a failing drainfield be repaired, or does it need replacement?
Sometimes it can be repaired. If the cause is solids carried over from a tank problem, fixing the tank and resting the field can help. If the field is saturated and no longer draining, replacement is the honest answer. We test before we tell you.
Do I need a septic inspection to sell my home?
It is not always required by the county, but most buyers and lenders want one, and a failed system can sink a closing at the last minute. An inspection ahead of time protects your sale and your asking price.
How much does a new septic system cost?
A fair number only comes after a site evaluation, because cost depends on soil, system type, lot layout, and county permitting. We evaluate first and give you a clear written quote.
Do you handle county permits and inspections?
Yes. For installs and replacements we manage the soil evaluation, the Florida Department of Health permit, the work, and the final inspection, so you are not chasing paperwork.
What counts as a septic emergency, and what should I do?
A backup into the house, sewage surfacing in the yard, or an overflowing tank or cleanout. Stop running water, keep kids and pets away from any pooled wastewater, and call right away so we can prioritize you.
What areas do you serve?
Lake City and all of Columbia County, including Fort White, Wellborn, White Springs, Watertown, Columbia City, Five Points, and the rural roads in between.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes, we are licensed and insured for septic work in Florida, so your property is protected and there is a real local company standing behind the work.
How fast can you come out?
Same-week service for most jobs, and priority response for active backups and overflows. Call and describe what is happening, and we will give you a real arrival window.
